Next cash mob on Sutherland Avenue

The county's next Cash Mob will be held tomorrow (that's Friday) from 5-7 p.m. At Strawberry Fields Market and Red Onion Pizza & Subs, both which are on Sutherland Avenue and not too far from the Metal Shed on da Hill.

According to Michael “Big Sexy” Grider (the county's most underpaid spin doctor), the two businesses will have cash mob specials.

Friday's mob will be the third one that the Tim Burchett administration has held in recent months. They've all been pretty successful, so it's a good thing officials ignored Emperor Dean Rice. Cause he thought holding a cash mob was a dumb idea.

Heh.

I don't know about the Strawberry Fields Market, but the reason Red Onion isn't doing so well isn't because of a lack of traffic (we get plenty on this street), but because there's a much better eatery next door and Red Onion simply can't compete with them.

Matter of fact, the Red Onion likely stayed in business as long as it has to date solely because of the old UT housing that was right across the street.

I'm all for these government-issue cash mob deals when they target businesses that are flagging due to artificial means (like the South Knox ones, which so far have been totally appropriate), but Red Onion's lack of business probably has more to do with the fact that it offers the same stuff it always has and doesn't really try to innovate or compete in the marketplace.

Dean might be right in these particular instances. But maybe it wouldn't hurt to go take a look.

I'm particularly interested to see Tim interact with the business owners...
