Burchett speaks about Carter Elementary

Well, they finally broke ground – or held the ground breaking or whatever – for Carter Elementary School today.

Click right smack here for county Mayor Tim Burchett's remarks.

On a side note: When this project is finally complete, someone should put his name on a plaque and attach it to the building. His name only. Whether you like what he did or not, he was the driving force behind getting this thing built.

He deserves the recognition. He won't admit it, though.

UPDATE: Commissioner Dave Wright also should be on the plaque.

How about Charlie and Joyce Burchett. Tim's parents. Both lifelong educators. He also a school board member. I'm betting' the Mayor might like that.

He would, but I think Charlie already has his name on a few buildings. I suggested Tim because if not for him, the project wouldn't have happened.

No doubt about it. I went for a few years to the old Carter (early 70's...dang that sounds old). Good for those folks to have a new school.

Chad, is it necessary to say the same thing twice?
